In its 18th Annual General Meeting on the 24th March 1968, MCA’s President, Tun Tan Siew Sin announced that the political party will initiate a move to establish a higher education institution to address the concerns of students who were unable to further their education as they could not obtain the required grades for MCE.
This announcement gave hope to May Li, Ah Yuan, Razali and Rama who were from different parts of the country. Through their eyes, we see the struggle of the people who had played a role in setting up TARC (Tunku Abdul Rahman College) in just two years, particularly Khaw Kai Boh and Tun Tan Siew Sin amidst the turbulent political scenario at that time. The lives, dilemmas, spirits, as well as the achievements of the first batch of TARC students are seen with the opportunities presented with the establishment of TARC.
